Have an awe full August!. Not awful, but filled with awe. Bless yourself and others with the gift of awe.
In our media-saturated, technology-distracted world, our awareness of God’s phenomenal and abundant creation in which we live is often limited . As powerful as the human mind is, we don’t have the capacity to juggle all the sensory input competing for our attention. We miss the joy of engaging with our Creator and his creation as a result.
Experience awe by pausing at least twice a day and studying something to which you haven’t paid much attention. It could be a flower, a pet, a piece of furniture, a person, your telephone.
— Pause. Look at it closely. Pretend you are looking at it with a magnifying glass. Notice detail you have previously given little or no thought.
— Marvel at how wondrous and awesome it truly is. — Pause and think about God, the creator of every thing that exists.
— Relax into a sense of gratitude that God loves and provides for you in the midst of a creation so immense and rich that it is beyond your ability to comprehend.
— To more fully enjoy these moments of awe and gratitude, keep a journal of your awe-full experiences.
God desires that we bless others from our blessings. We are blessed to be blessers. Often, we first need to appreciate how blessed we are.
